Dental veneer (sometimes called porcelain veneer or dental porcelain laminates) are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth  to improve your appearance. These shells are strong bonded to the front of the teeth, changing their color, shape, size, or length. Light-sensitive resin cement  is placed between the natural tooth and the veneer to bond  them using a led curing light.

To apply a veneer, a very small amount of the original tooth enamel must be removed. This is essential as it creates room for the porcelain veneer to fit within the mouth and most accurately restore natural tooth function while creating an aesthetic and healthy appearance.

There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer:

Dental Porcelain:

Porcelain veneer resist stains better than resin veneer and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. One advantage of  porcelain veneers it is durability compared with resin veneer.
Their endurance is impressive magnification, and the use of CAD/CAM technology adds precision, which is translated also into a greater life spam.
Creating porcelain veneer requires some laboratory time, so expect around a week before they are ready to be applied.

Composite:

A composite veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician  in a dental lab, and later bonded to the tooth, using a resin cement as porcelain veneers. In contrast, a porcelain veneer may only be indirectly fabricated.
Resin veneers are thinner and require removal of less of the tooth surface before placement.
